I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
through all generations.
(Psalm 89:1)
As we look ahead to the rest of 2026, here are some ministry and organisation updates that we wanted to share with you. Each reflects the Lord’s love and faithfulness to his people in different ways.
Leadership and staffing
First of all we want to say a heartfelt thanks and farewell to Andy Fenton, who has served with Music Ministry for a number of years. Under the Lord’s loving hand, much of Music Ministry’s existence and growth since its inception has been down to Andy’s vision and sacrificial service. We thank God for using Andy in so many ways to help churches across the UK understand and apply the Bible’s teaching about singing and music-making. We are so grateful for the numerous events, training, resources, and consultation that Andy has led (and, in many cases, pioneered) over the years. Andy departs his role with Music Ministry to focus on new opportunities. Please pray for him as he does so.
We are blessed to have two other experienced and gifted staff members in place to lead our day-to-day ministry, with the support of our trustees and many volunteer training partners.
Matt Bennington, who recently joined the team as Training and Resources Manager brings many years of experience in church music leadership. In view of Matt’s gifts, character, and the Lord’s provision at this time, we are delighted to release Matt into a wider role with Music Ministry as Ministry Director. Matt will oversee the ongoing work of Music Ministry, as he continues to develop new training and resources for churches.
Heather Cowan, who many of you will know, has served for a number of years as our Administrator – a title that doesn’t begin to do justice to the wide-ranging responsibilities she has taken on over the years! To better reflect her role in the organisation, her job title is now Events and Engagement Lead.
Together Matt and Heather will be working to continue our existing ministries, and develop new training and resources to help equip you and your church. If you have any opportunities or ideas for how we can serve you with those things, they would love to hear from you. One way to stay in touch is by connecting with our various WhatsApp channels and groups here.
Charity news
The work of Music Ministry UK is entirely dependent upon the prayerful generous giving of our partners. If you would like to support our mission to equip churches to sing the word of Christ, you can find out more and donate here. Each donation goes towards the development of training events and resources that enable the gospel to dwell richly among our churches through song. Our vision is to provide our support and resources free of charge wherever possible. Any donations would help this greatly.
In the last few years Music Ministry has become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (the Music Ministry Foundation). Our current trustees are Chris Gunter, Simon Pedley, Andrew McKenna, and Elaine Mullins. If you have any questions about giving to Music Ministry or need help in setting that up in any way, please feel free to contact our finance officer via the ‘request more info’ button on this page.
Coming up
We’re excited to share that our first podcast series is releasing over the coming weeks. Episode one, featuring Bob Kauflin, is out now. We hope this first series will be a help and encouragement to you. During it we will be considering the needs of different parts of the body of Christ as we serve them in song.
We’re looking forward to being at the Rising Lights event in April and leading a seminar on unity in church music. Do come and say hello if you’re heading to that event in Torquay (6-10 April).
We’re also hard at work planning for other events and training in 2026 and beyond, and are currently exploring the possibility of two regional conferences plus a musician’s getaway.
Do stay tuned for news of those. You can follow us for updates on social media or sign up for email news here.
We’d love to hear how we can serve you in 2026, and sing of the Lord’s love and faithfulness together.
On behalf of the trustees,
